Development of QM Holzheizwerke®
Wood heating systems developed. After Storm Lothar on December 26, 1999, which devastated forests that had been supplying firewood for many years, the QM system was prescribed by the Swiss Confederation and the cantons for large subsidized wood heating systems and gradually developed under the name QM Wood Heating®.
In Switzerland, QM Wood Heating® is represented by Energie-bois Suisse, a competent partner in the field of wood energy for professionals, builders, politicians, companies, and interested individuals. Energie-bois Suisse is headquartered in Zurich and has branches in Echandens and Avegno.
In the 2000s, the German states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, and Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as Austria, faced the same problems as Switzerland and quickly joined the
QM Wood Heating® working group (2004). The QM system was thus further developed by an international committee of experts to become an effective quality assurance tool for wood heating systems. Since 2020, Italy (Friuli-Venezia Giulia region) has also been a full member of ARGE QMH. Slovenia, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Japan have also adopted parts of the QM Wood Heating® system.
